Choosing A Quality Mountain Bike Frame For Your Bike

Do you need a little thrill into your life? What about venturing off road and escaping all the traffic and congestion. Sounds like mountain biking is just what you?re looking for. But you need a good bike to get going and there are so many choices. One of the main things you need to come to terms with is the frame of the bike. The Mountain bike frame is really the foundation of a bike so getting this right is important.

The bike frame is really the main part of a bike that is determined by the manufacturer. Most and in some cases all the other parts of a bike are bought from other component manufacturers and installed on the bike. So the brand of the bike is one of the things you will have to come to terms with.

The other is the material the frame is made of.

Each brand of bike could have two or three different materials they use to make their frames. The first is the cheapest and the heaviest and that is steel but it is very durable. Aluminum is also used and it is also quite durable but it is lighter weight and really the main material used today. Carbon fiber is often the material of choice for bikes in the upper price range. It is often the lightest weight frame and is durable but it is expensive to produce. The material as you can see is responsible for the weight of the frame and how strong and durable it is. The material also has a big effect on the price.

Another thing that determines the frame of the bike you should buy is the type of riding you plan on doing. Typically you will find mountain bikes divided into five categories - cross country, downhill, trail, all mountain and recreational.

Then the frames are also divided by the type of suspension they have. Some of the recreational bikes have no suspension at all though they are getting less and less. Hardtail bikes commonly refer to bikes with suspension front forks only. Full suspension mountain bikes as you might suspect are bikes with both a front and bake suspension.

Trail mountain bikes are often the ones most people choose as they are often used by the average recreational rider. You know those that ride on weekends and for fun. Downhill bikes are typically full suspension bike and are used for traveling down mountain trail and over rough terrains. Cross country bike are usually hard tails and very light weight as they are intended for speeding across relatively smooth trails and dirt roads.

So before you rush out and buy a bike you need to think about how you're probably going to ride. If you have friends who love to ride trails then you will probably ride with them, which is really good as they will be able to get to help you know the best trails as well as teach you some techniques.

Mountain biking is great fun and can be a real adventure. You just what it to be the right kind of adventure one that doesn?t involve you bike breaking down along the way. So when you?re looking at bikes pay special attention to the mountain bike frame and choose quality and one that fits your riding style and then you will have some wonderful adventures.
